Nile River
- Nile Basin
Water Resources Project
This is a joint effort between Nile Basin
countries and participating governments to establish ways to utilize water resources and
protect the environment surrounding the Nile basin. The site describes current
activities in each of the participating countries (Burundi, D.R. Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya,
Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda).
- FAO
of the United Nations
FAO has been working on the monitoring, forecasting
and simulation of the Nile River (MFS) project since 1990 to improve operations of the
High Aswan Dam that controls the flow of the Nile in Egypt.

This

- Famine Early Warning System
(FEWS) Project
This site contains sattelite maps for food security in the
Horn of Africa, showing cropland use, population, soil suitability for agriculture,
vegetation indices etc.
- Greater Horn Information Exchange
GHIE provides site reports, fact sheets, activity summaries, datasets, scientific
papers, analyses, geographic and thematic maps, situation reports as well as datasets.
