African Centre for Technology Studies.
The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is an international
inter-governmental policy research and training organization located in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Centre's activities focus on the implementation of Agenda 21 and related conventions
on biological diversity, climate change and desertification.
African Wildlife Foundation. This
site describes the mission of AWF and its programs. One of African Wildlife
Foundation's current projects focuses on the Samburo Heartland, where they are attempting
to to promote the well-being of wildlife, wild habitats, and human populations along the
Ewaso Ngiro river from the slopes of Mount Kenya to the arid expanses of Samburu.
IUCN Strategies for
Sustainability. This site provides background information
on Kenya and a brief chronology of its environmental history. Also included are the
Environmental Action Plan for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Kenya's National Environmental
Action Plan. More information about the Strategies for Sustainability program can be
obtained by clicking on their icon at the bottom of the site's page.
The World Conservation Union:
Eastern Africa Regional Office (EARO). This site includes
information about IUCN initiatives and objectives in Eastern Africa on a wide range of
environmental issues. Contact information for the office is provided, as well as
staff email addresses.
Mpala Research Centre.
The Mpala Research Centre has been created as a research and training facility
with a mandate to identify and explore the key environmental components of this landscape
and to seek ways of resolving conflicts. The Centre is administered by the Mpala Research
Trust, in a collaboration with the Kenya Wildlife Service, the National Museums of Kenya,
Princeton University, and the Smithsonian Institution. Research can be conducted at Mpala
by any applicant with an explicitly proposed, approved, and funded project.
Save the Rhino International.
Since 1990, Save the Rhino International (SRI) has worked to ensure the survival
of the rhinoceros species in the wild by working closely with local communities and
providing ongoing support for
wildlife managers and game rangers. Current conservation projects are in Kenya,
Tanzania, Namibia and India.

General Information.
This is a general resource site for the government, NGOs, and other information on
Kenya..
Kenya:
Economic Development and Environment. This site, created by Columbia
University Libraries, supplies a number of links to economic and finance information about
Kenya.
FRAME. FRAME facilitates the use
and exchange of web-based information for environment and natural resource management
professionals in Africa. This website provides analytical tools and information,
mechanisms to share lessons and experiences, as well as opportunities for linkages to
enhance collaboration among partners.
Tracker. Tracker is a database
which allows users to enter their own experiences from local resource management in Africa
or learn from the experiences of others. It aims to facilitate the gathering and sharing
of natural resource management information, as well as encourage work with local
communities.
